The Friends of General HaigThis is a featured page

(Formerly known as the Worcester Wargames Club - but that was just too dull!)

The FoGH

Who are we?
We are an eclectic mix of gamers (about 12 in total) covering a wide range of largely historical periods. Currently we game:

  • Ancients (15 and 25mm)
  • Dark ages (25mm)
  • Renaissance / ECW (25mm)
  • SYW / Jacobite (25mm)
  • Napoleonic (15 and 25mm)
  • ACW (15mm)
  • Colonial (15 and 25mm)
  • World War One (25mm)
  • World War Two (6, 15, 20 and 25mm!)
  • Arab / Israeli (15mm)
There are a few others as well!

Where?
We meet at the YMCA (no singing please!) on Henwick Road, St Johns (The "west bank" of the River Severn) in Worcester.

The post code for those with sat nav is WR2 5NS. Failing that you can't miss it - it's the large gothic mansion on the left as you head North out of St Johns!

When?
We meet every other Saturday. Our meeting dates are currently:
01/08/09
15/08/09
29/08/09
12/09/09
26/09/09
10/10/09
24/10/09.... etc.... From 2pm to 7pm.

Structure
The club has no formal committee (hurrah!) and we simply contribute £2.50 per player (first couple of sessions are free!) to a fund which covers the cost of the room, anything left after we pay for the room goes into "the pot" to buy scenery. Usually, this is terrain blocks, trees, rivers, roads etc... items which the whole club can benefit from! We try to have an annual WAB campaign just before Christmas culminating in a huge multi-sided game (see picture) followed by a meal out - our annual dinner!

All in all we're a very friendly bunch - just don't have a go at General Haig!
